Why do I LOVE organic Cacoa Powder?
Because it’s rich in the essential nutrients and minerals - Iron, Potassium, Copper, Zinc & Magnesium - the ADHD brain needs.
I’m naturally Magnesium deficient*, so boosting my levels of this (+Vitamin B6) is really effective.
Magnesium is really important for brain function; it binds neurotransmitters (Serotonin + Dopamine) to their receptors. Without it, it’s hard to concentrate.
Refined grains have lost a huge percentage of their Magnesium and the minerals in our soils are also hugely lacking in essential minerals; this is why I eat organic.
Refined sugars deplete Magnesium levels, and Magnesium is needed to help regulate blood sugar control - so the cravings I get for sugar (because it’s a safe Dopamine hit) only causes a cycle of brain fog and impulsive behaviour….it’s the highs and the lows that I want to control, yet within that balance I can embrace the best bits of my ADHD brain!
